Shezad Dawood

Shezad Dawood is a London-born artist of Indian and Pakistani descent. He trained at Central St Martin’s and the Royal College of Art and received a Ph.D. from Leeds Metropolitan University. He works across installation and film with musicians, actors and other collaborators throughout many global locations. Recent projects include ‘Inshallah’, a restaging of Samuel Beckett’s ‘Waiting for Godot’, and ‘Until the End of the World’, at The Third Line in Dubai. Dawood’s work has been exhibited internationally and was included in ‘Altermodern’ at Tate Britain and the 53rd Venice Biennale (both 2009). He was awarded the prestigious Abraaj Capital Art Prize in 2011. Piercing Brightness, a major solo exhibition of Dawood’s work opened in the Spring of 2012 at Modern Art Oxford and will continue to tour the U.K. As Artist-in-Residence at Shangri La, Dawood presented A Certain Mode of Perception, an illustrated talk on his recent work and film projects at the University of Hawai’i.
