As summer begins its descent and starlight grows stronger overhead, join us for an evening of art, sound, and story under the celestial canopy. Night//Shift: Light Forecast draws inspiration from the seasonal rhythm of August skies — when constellations like the Summer Triangle and Manaiakalani (Māui’s fishhook) arc above us, echoing ancient navigational knowledge and illuminating our present with subtle signals of change.

Headlining the night is celebrated Maui-born Anuhea, a multi-talented artist who blends genres such as Reggae, Pop, and R&B into a style all her own, earning her multiple prestigious awards, including Hawai’is Female Artist of the Year in 2019.

Set beneath the shifting sky in Capitol Modern’s Sculpture Garden, this free public event offers a layered sensory experience:

  • Art installations, workshops, and food inspired by seasonal cycles and communal creativity
  • A marketplace curated by Art+Flea and local artisans
  • Culinary offerings by Chef Kealoha Domingo that connect ʻāina, moʻolelo, and abundance

Night//Shift is Shangri La’s quarterly gathering where season, culture, and contemporary art intersect. “Light Forecast” invites us to reflect on what we carry into the changing season — what light we follow, what rhythms we cast forward, and what possibilities emerge at twilight.
