His projects include Muslim interpretations of Hinduism and the literary interpretation of the Qur’an. While While in residence, Morris Rossabi, an expert on the history of East and Central Asia, was writing a book on the topic of Islam in Asia to be published by Oxford University Press. Taking advantage of Shangri La’s contemplative and quiet environment, Dr. Rossabi primarily spent his residency preparing this book manuscript and with his particular interest in visual culture, he explored the Shangri La collection for objects suitable to his research.
