From October 15-30, 2019, the acclaimed Papermoon Puppet Theatre was in residence at Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture & Design. Based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, Papermoon has been advancing the art of puppetry since 2006. Theater co-founder, Maria Tri Sulistyani, joined by two of Papermoon’s expert puppeteers, Beni Sanjaya and Anton Fajri, performed an original production featuring local stories and life-like puppets. Papermoon has created more than 20 original puppet performances, toured to more than 10 countries, and launched an international puppet biennial, Pesta Boneka.
